I am a 4th year student currently studying at Uvic, my major is economics. I am taking this course as an elective and i am interested in learning design. I have been taking the similar courses, such as Edci 337 and 339 at Uvic.

Designed learning is a course that could improve my skills, such as the teamwork, communication and speech skills. I would develop these skills in my future courses, and experience of teaching. I had no experiences of teaching, except taking those courses.

Learning design is an significant area because it directly impacts how effectively knowledge and skills for the learners, it is training for the creative thinking of the educational programs and experiences. It is also engages the learners and promote meaningful understanding. The goal is to facilitate learning in an efficient and impactful way that ensures learners achieve a outcome they want.

Here are the breakdown points that i have with learning design:

  1. find out the learning objectives: this is the very first step in order to deeply understand the detailed learning outcomes, and be able to gain learning experiences for all the learners.
  2. Engaging the learner: to understand individual’s preferences and their learning motivations, and get to know the potential barriers to learn, which helps to customize the learning design.
  3. strategy: Based on the learning objectives, to design an instructional strategy outline is very essential tool, includes the combination of the learning methods, that support different of learning style.
